Radiation…it’s here.

I think people are downplaying radiation popping up around the USA and other parts of the world. – dmotion, 27 March 2011

The time for downplaying is over. This is a disaster getting worse. There is snow in Missouri with double the radiation and in San Francisco a beach with five times the normal radiation.

You have Japan sending in homeless people on basically what I consider a suicide mission to ‘clean up’ the spill. Not to mention steam rising from reactor 3 and its origin yet unknown.

There is no sense of alert or urgency in the international community or outrage for the obvious misleading of the radiation levels.

Then there’s the crew of USS Ronald Reagan which

…sailed straight into a plume of radioactivity, which entered the ship’s water supply. Crew members washed, brushed their teeth and drank potentially contaminated water. […] active duty and former sailors are suffering from cancer, blindness, impotence, and fatigue as a result of the radiation exposure.

At what point is the international community going to wake up and see that this disaster is trying to be swept underneath the rug?

You also have certain inauspicious movements by The Department of Health and Human Services in the US ordering 14 million doses of potassium iodide to be delivered in the beginning of February 2014.

All of these things are a harbinger–of a horrible situation that can be that much less horrible if dealt with now and not when all there is to do is hope.
